I finally finished watching Lost Yesterday.

I started watching them almost 2 years ago. I wasted way too much time on them but they sure are hard to stop watching. πŸ˜›

I’m so very glad to be done with it. It felt like they were leading up to a really epic ending, but it was very meh. πŸ˜› Oh well.

dinner and a movie

•March 15, 2011 • Leave a Comment

I had my friend Heather over for dinner and a movie tonight.

I had a netflix DVD coming in the mail so I asked her if she wanted to come over and watch it with me. Then I asked her if she wanted to come over for dinner too, that way I actually have to make something. I tend to brush off such trivial details when I’m only taking care of me. (bad Charlyn)

Dinner was meatballs made from scratch. They turned out really good! It was a much simpler recipe than the last time I tried making them from scratch and I liked them a whole lot better. After cooking them, I added pineapple tidbits and sweet and sour sauce and cooked it all a while longer. Serve it with rice and you have a yummy, filling dinner. (my mom likes to lay a row of frozen meatballs from costco in a 9×13 pan, cover with S&S sauce and pineapple, cook til it’s all good and hot and serve with rice)

Then for the movie. I had ‘An American in Paris’. a 1951 musical with Gene Kelly. We weren’t impressed. Normally I adore musicals, but this one was just too disjointed and some of the story line just wasn’t at all nice. It was getting late (for me :P) so we didn’t even finish it. I might finish it someday, or look it up online to see how it ended. But it’s quite predictable.

On another note, I’ll probably ask Jonathan to log into my Facebook for me and make it so that these blogs don’t automatically post there. So if you want to keep up with these, please bookmark my blog or add it to your RSS reader. πŸ™‚

some ramblings

•March 13, 2011 • Leave a Comment

Apparently I set up this blog to automatically post to my notes on Facebook. I hadn’t posted on here in over a year so I had totally forgotten about that. I was with Jonathan on his Facebook looking at an Event that is coming up and saw my last two blog posts on his news feed. Oops πŸ˜›

Daylight savings time just ended, or started… I think it just ended… Either way, my schedule at work will change because of it. They were letting people come in an hour early so that they didn’t always have to drive home in the dark. I rather liked that schedule a lot better because I don’t like working ’til 5. πŸ˜› But I’m kinda looking forward to not even being able to go in that early, so that I can sleep ’til a more reasonable hour.

Tomorrow is the final for my math class, I’m so ready to be done with it. I’ve just been feeling like I have no time for anything lately and having those two evenings during the week free will be so very nice.

So far the couple of blogs I have posted have been fairly rambly in nature. I do hope you don’t mind. But then, I’m certainly not forcing you to read them. πŸ™‚ I’m hoping that if I do keep posting I will find some sort of aΒ rhythm;Β but for now I just want to let my friends know what’s going on with me since I disappeared on them for a month. πŸ˜›

Oh, I am sorry that my blog here is so very dark at the moment. I’m going to keep trying different themes until I find one I like better

I’m still here

Hey there πŸ™‚

I’m such a procrastinator. I meant to post at least once or twice a week during my month off of Facebook but seeing as this is my first post during that time, I’m a little bit behind.

Well, we all must start somewhere, yes?

It’s now been a dozen days since I signed onto facebook and I do rather miss it. And I very much miss being on chat to chat with my dear friends there. πŸ™‚

This week has been quite a mess for me. I’ve been fighting a cold, which on top of my allergies is not fun at all. Jonathan has been gone since Monday on an install with Adec. So of course I’ve missed him terribly. He was supposed to be back to Newberg at about noon today, but his first flight got delayed for 4hrs so of course he missed his connecting flight and had a 5hr layover. His flight to Portland will be taking off any minute now and I’m quite ready to go pick him up and see him again.

Today I finally sat down to try to finally finish a dress I started a few months ago. About a month ago I got fed up with it and all the little things I needed to fix. So I just now did some fixing and got it to fit me better, and upon trying it on myself again, I don’t think I even like it on myself. πŸ˜› How annoying. Maybe I’ll try selling it if I can ever make it presentable.

I painted my toenails purple today ^_^ and I think I might go get a manicure before I pick Jonathan up. Something I hardly ever do, I think I’ve gotten about 3-4 manicures in my life.

Thanks for stopping by and checking up on me (if anyone actually does :P) and have a blessed Sunday tomorrow! πŸ™‚

Merry Christmas!

I’ve just had a wonderful Christmas with my family. πŸ™‚ And this makes 2 whole days in 1 week that I haven’t had to go *anywhere* all day long. *happy sigh* Let me tell you, it’s been wonderful.

I have aquired about a gallon sized bag worth of candy today (mostly chocolate ^_^) I think I have enough sugar to last me 2 months now. πŸ˜›

I also received a wonderful Hershey’s chocolate recipe card tin from a most wonderful friend. I think I shall have to try a recipe out soon to serve on my new rosey pink serving plate πŸ˜€

a new post

hmm, I havne’t been on here in a while, maybe I’ll try to start blogging again.

I’ve been quite busy lately, between two jobs, AWANA, Church, a vague attempt at a social life, and life in general.

I’m still working at the grocery store, and two months ago I started working at a dental equipment company as a temp. I’m working anywhere between 45-56hrs with the two jobs.

I haven’t done *any* sewing in over 3 months! I’m hoping to remedy that soon, while starting a sewing business on Etsy.com πŸ™‚ I’ll be sure to post about it when I actually put something on there. πŸ˜›

I started helping with AWANA at my church again this year. This time as the secretary for the Sparky’s. I’ve really been enjoying that, especially with things settling down now that we’re a few weeks into it.

I’ve been practicing a couple of Christmas songs on the piano. It’s been wonderful to be playing a bit again. Right now I’m practicing “Sing we now of Christmas” and “Jolly old saint Nicholas/Canon in D”. Sing we now of Christmas I got out of a new Christmas piano book, I’m really loving this version. And ‘Jolly Old Saint Nicholas’ is a version I learned a few years ago, that’s also really pretty. I am hoping to add at least one more song in a week or two, but we’ll see. :)And of course, then I still have the recorder that I should learn something on, now that I’ve got my recorder book back from VA. πŸ™‚

Suppose that will do for a start. πŸ™‚

Song of the week ~ Brother’s Keeper

•June 17, 2009 • Leave a Comment

This was playing on my cd today, and I really think it has such a great message, I especially love the chorus, ‘I will be my brother’s keeper, not the one who judges him, I won’t despise him for his weakness‘… that just by itself is a great attitude to have towards fellow believers, but then, it goes on to say ‘I won’t regard him for his strength‘…. huh, think about that one a little…..

Listen ~ http://listen.grooveshark.com/#/song/Brother_s_Keeper/7744175

“Now the plummer’s got a drip in his spigot
The mechanic’s got a clank in his car
And the preacher’s thinking thoughts that are wicked
And the lover’s got a lonely heart
My friends ain’t the way I wish they were
They are just the way they are

And I will be my brother’s keeper
Not the one who judges him
I won’t despise him for his weakness
I won’t regard him for his strength
I won’t take away his freedom
I will help him learn to stand
And I will ~ I will be my brother’s keeper

Now this roof has got a few missing shingles
But at least we got ourselves a roof
And they say that she’s a fallen angel
I wonder if she recalls when she last flew
There’s no point in pointing fingers
Unless you’re pointing to the truth

And I will be my brother’s keeper
Not the one who judges him
I won’t despise him for his weakness
I won’t regard him for his strength
I won’t take away his freedom
I will help him learn to stand
And I will ~ I will be my brother’s keeper

I will be my brother’s keeper
Not the one who judges him
I won’t despise him for his weakness
I won’t regard him for his strength
I won’t take away his freedom
I will help him learn to stand
And I will ~ I will be my brother’s keeper

Oreo Truffles

•April 24, 2009 • 6 Comments

While I was on the East coast, I went up to PA for a weekend get-together with a bunch of my friends. We had a blast, and I got to meet lots of my friends fron chat and HSA that I had never met before. ^_^ While we were there, Kayla, served us Oreo Truffles. Let me tell you, they were about the most amazing thing I had ever had. Good thing she made plenty, cuz everyone kept going back for more πŸ˜†

Anywhoo, I’ve been meaning to make them myself sometime, as Kayla has sent me a link to the recipe. So I finally made them last week for a lunch at my church….

(recipe) http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/recipes/easy-oreo-truffles-95085.aspx

I made two batches, one with low-fat cream cheese, and one with regular cream cheese. There was a *wee* bit of a consistency difference, but not enough to be a nuisance, and there was no taste difference. Mom had the brilliant idea of using dark, baking chocolate. I did half in the regular chocolate, and half in the dark chocolate.

Cream cheese/oreo balls waiting to be dipped in chocolate ^_^

melting the semi-sweet baking chocolate (I couldn’t get lighting I liked for this picture, sorry it looks so bad)

100_5322

melting the dark chocolate… It was amazing, and it was much easier to dip the oreo balls into.

And sadly, I didn’t get any pictures of the finished product. But just trust me, they looked *really* good ^_^ they disappeared *ver* quickly at the church lunch. ^_^

coming soon…

So I obviously had to change the title of my blog, seeing as how I am no longer a nanny. I’m not completely sold on “Charlyn’s Chapters” but I’m trying it out, if you have any thoughts on that, please tell me. πŸ™‚

Also, I might change the theme of my blog.

Anywhoo, I’m planning on actually blogging again, life seems to be settling down a bit, so I have no excuse not to blog I guess. (now I just have to think of interesting things to blog about ^_^)

I’m planning on posting a ‘song of the week’, which will just be a song that I really like at the moment for whatever reason.

Not sure what else I’ll do right off hand, but I’d like to be putting something worth looking at, so we shall see what I come up with.
